The department specializes in teaching and research on European oil painting. The academic objectives are to integrate Chinese and Western techniques in order to supplement each other, and to make a balance between art and technique. Emphasizing on the accomplishments both in techniques and theories of oil painting, the department aims to cultivate creative and specialized artists with a firm fundamental knowledge in their specific subject areas.
