¡ª¡ªa lecture given by the Print-making Department
On the evening of May 22nd, 2006, graduate student, Min Han and senior student, Hao Xing, from the Print-making Department gave a lecture titled ¡°taking a part for the whole, a glimpse at contemporary European art¡±.
Min Han and Hao Xing are the first two transferring students to Willem de Kooning Academy Hogeschool Rotterdam, from Oct. 2005 to Jan. 2006.
Concerning art education of in the Netherlands, the lecture examined the works of students in the Netherlands, the 51st Biannual Exhibition of Venice and the Pompidou ¡°Great Impulsion¡± Exhibition 05¡¯ by illustrating boards, images and photos. These two students also explained some reknowned contemporary European artists¡¯ works in simple terms.
During the two-hour lecture, Min Han and Hao Xing compared themselves with a group of blind men trying to size up an elephant, each mistaking the part he touches for the whole animal in the Chinese idiom ¡°mang ren mo xiang¡±, which means taking a part for the whole. Their inter-action lecture, with all pictures and their own experience, impressed the audience deeply; and inspired their enthusiasm for the research of contemporary foreign arts.
