From Dec.24th to 30th in 2005, Prof. Zhao Yang the dean, Prof. Lei Da and Associate Prof. Wang Yun in Department of Industrial Design went to Taiwan attending the first Global Chinese Industrial Design Conference with several other scholars and experts of mainland. Taiwan Chang Gung University which held the second part of this conference including forum, cultural visit, etc, warmly welcome them.
They discussed the topic of next forum and who to hold the third forum. They talked about how to advertise GCID worldwide and had agreed to establish standing body of GCID. During the forum, they adopted Prof. Zhao¡¯s suggestion of changing the ¡°Conference¡± to ¡°Forum¡±. The new name will be used in next forum in 2007.
The group from mainland also visited Nova Design Co., Juming Museum, National Palace Museum and Shih Chien University.
This forum extends the understanding between mainland and Taiwan. Especially for mainland group, it¡¯s a good chance to learn from Taiwan design circle about their success and shortages.
The second GCID Forum in 2007 will be held by Department of Industrial Design in China Academy of Art. It is a good opportunity and also a challenge to us.
