Professor Hans Andringa from Willem de Kooning Academy Hogeschool Rotterdam giving lectures in the CAA

Based on the agreement between the China Academy of Art and Willem de Kooning Academy Hogeschool Rotterdam, Professor Hans Andringa, the principal of the Department of Print-making of Willem de Kooning Academy Hogeschool Rotterdam, paid a visit to our school from Apr. 14^th to Apr. 21^st, 2006. During his one-week visit, Professor Andringa gave several lectures.

Making his best to give high-quality lectures, Professor Andringa went through lots of preparation works, including several discussions on the time, content, the size of audience, lecture materials and other details of his oncoming lectures. After achieving full understanding of the idea and condition of the Department of Paint-Making of the China Academy of Art, Professor Andringa finally settled his plan of lecture.

During this limited one-week time, Professor Andringa arranged two lectures, both of which had critical criterion and plenty of imagination spaces for the students. Without doubt, all the students learned a lot from these two unique and inspiring lectures.

Judging from students’ homework, students all got a better understanding of this master and his works. Through the combination of individual inspiration and the diversity of techniques of print-making, students all learned better ways of perception, paint-making techniques, creativity and teamwork. Meanwhile, all those concepts and experience of print-making education from foreign countries, which put emphasis on guiding, training of basic skills and designing, are all references with great pertinence to us.

After the lectures, the Department of Print-making held an exhibition of more than 40 works, named ‘Meeting, Rotterdam and Hangzhou’, in the art gallery at the campus. Professor Hans Andringa, Subdecanal of the China Academy of Art, Professor Jian Liu, the Section Chief of Educational Administration of the China Academy of Art, Professor Liangyong Hu, Section Chief of Foreign Affairs of the China Academy of Art Xiujing Yang, Department Director of the Department of Print-making and other teachers and students of the Department of Print-making participated in the opening ceremony of this exhibition.
